"Now something that you always have to consider when you're talking about humor is culture. What I am talking about is knowing who are your audience. What group of people-and I'm not talking so much about type of people-but are you talking to people from another country (Russia, China, Afghanistan,etc). Every country and culture has different types of humor and different things that they think are funny and acceptable. If you are going to be giving a speech in any type of multicultural environment, it's always a really good idea to find out what is funny to them? What is appropriate in the sense of the use of humor to them? Again, you always want to avoid the risk of offending."
