"Now, we've talked about monotone, which is using, you know, you don't want to be monotone, which is using just one pitch. You want to use those two or three pitches. But another vocal expression that you want to think about is rate of speed. And when I'm talking about rate of speed, I'm talking about moderate, fast, or slow. Now, generally, most of your speech is going to be moderate, or it should be. We tend to go a little bit faster when we're nervous, so you want to be very aware that you're speaking in a moderate pace: not too slow, not to fast, where people can understand. But there are certain times when you might want to go a little faster. Or if you're really trying to drive a point, you might slow down. So remember, in addition to using those two to three different pitches; you're going to want to use two to three different rates of speed."
