"Now this is going to sound kind of crazy to you but this helps you appear as a confident communicator. When you go in a room, especially in a business meeting or really wherever it is, try to pick firm chairs; Yeah, firm chairs. Try to avoid, if at all possible, couches and chairs that you will kind of sink down into because then you'll kind of have to flail as you get out of them and that will make you appear. less confident because you will feel uncomfortable in that moment of trying to get out of the couch or chair. Something else you can do if you really want to maintain power or create power over someone, sit in a higher chair. Pay attention to this. If you start looking around and see how high your boss' chair is when you go in for a meeting with him or her, does he sit at a higher level than where your chair is? That establishes more power. Simple chair can establish power and can establish confidence or lack of confidence as a communicator."
