"Now I'm going to be talking about how to select books for your child. One of the main things is to try and get books that they're very interested in. They now make board books, very simple board books and very few words for interest of every type. You can find words within these books, really the main purpose is to get them to be interested in books and enjoy reading. This is a very early book. Maybe the next book that you would get that child would be something like this, it's still a board book but there's some words on it. As you're reading always follow with your finger under the word so they realize the words are coming from these letters here. Always show them exactly what you're reading. The next books that I generally read to the children are books that have some rhyming to them. They're very easy for children to remember and they get very excited when they feel like they're starting to read books. Really a lot of that is by memorizing the book but it also gets them excited about reading and that's the main objective."
