" As we are learning about double vowels make sure that you distinguish the double vowels that actually follow a rule where the first one says its name and the second one is silent and the double vowels that are irregular that are other sounds. Now make sure you only teach the ones first that were in the last section where the first one says its name and the last one is silent. Don't introduce words with other type of double vowels. When they have mastered regular ones introduce the double ones. Boot is a good example. Now there are two types of "oo's". There is an oo that goes uh and one that goes oo. For uh I put book, look, took, cook, and I'm sure there are many more you can add and for oo I put root, boot, cool and I am sure there are many more you can add too. Sometimes you can fill a whole page with one rule and you will find them with your child. You will think of more, you'll find them in textbooks and you will find them everywhere so don't worry about finding them all at once. I would have ou for ow. Out is a word and ow also goes ou. W is normally a vowel but in this case the ow combination makes the ow sound, cow, how, howl wow. There are many other irregular vowels there is ie and eu and you will come upon them as they pop up."
