"Only when your child is completely perfect on the addition and subtraction tables all the way up to ten and the subtraction to go with that. Are you ready to move on to adding 2 or more digits? So we would start over here. We would start with 2 digits of course. You can even start with 2 digits adding the one digit. The most important thing is to teach them how to set up this kind of problems to start with me. To teach them that you always line it up starting to the right side one number over 1 number. Teach them that your put the plus sign and you put the line underneath then you can begin to add. Now don't put any from the beginning problems that include carrying. So this one is simple there is not carrying involved and there is our answer. Also teach them if they take it from here, teach them to make their own, line it up the way that you thought them and solved. Once they master that then you can teach them the art of carrying, which if you remember from school, carry the one from 15. Add the 1, 6 1 is 7 2 is 9. From them we are talking about day by day as you start to make the problem harder and we are talking about dozens of problems. Then you can move on to higher numbers of digits 3 digits, 4 digits and to more complicated math and there we have it."
