"Hi, I'm Ann Kennedy on behalf of expertvillage.com and this session we'll be talking about rhyming and reading games. How to focus, very very important, you model good behavior so your child learns how to focus. Your model focusing behavior. You can go to some of the party stores and get those magic Halloween fingers which work, as you use your finger to read and a child just can't wait to put one of those fingers on so then they learn to space and say word by word and they're learning to focus. You can also get something as cute as this little doggie that you can put on a pencil so when you're reading, instead of using your finger, where at this point your child is used to seeing you break the words up into spaces, something as bow wow, when, my, little, sister, saw and sweep to the next line. You're teaching the child by either using a pen, by using a magic finger that you can buy for the Halloween time, they usually have a lot of them, or something as cute as a little doggie that you're pointing and you're separating and that they get a chance to try. And once they get their fingers and hands word by word, it helps them learn how to focus."
