"Hi, I'm Ann Kennedy on behalf of expertvillage.com and this session we'll be talking about rhyming and reading games. Standing for attitude, it's very very very important to your child. Not to just sit and be very stoic and just read. It's important that you immerse yourself in reading and language and literature and learning so that your child will too. And how do you do this? By modeling. Something as simple as we all know the classic little tale of Jack be nimble, Jack be quick, Jack jump over the candle stick. But, a nice way to do it so the child understands this has meaning too, is you have a candle stick and I may say to Angela, you wait honey and let me do this first and then we'll do it together or you can try it. Do it any which way you want. So we start out Jack be nimble, Jack be quick, Jack jump over the, candle stick. Did you see? I just jumped over the candle stick. Do you want to try it or do you want to try it with me? Simple. Take what the words mean in these rhymes, do something creative and fun with it and involve your child. Your child sees your modeling good behaviors, they see what the words mean because they're interacting the words. So as simple as Jack be nimble, Jack be quick, the next time you read it, jump over a candle stick."
