"Hi, I'm Ann Kennedy on behalf of Expert Village. We'll be looking at how to teach a child to read using big books and read alouds. Reading with a purpose part 2 extremely important. Before you read any book to your child, have an idea of the purpose as we showed in the last lesson. Take a few minutes we'll take about 4-5 minutes read the book make sure you look at the beginning and the ending. Figure out one or two things that are important to you that is important to teach your child. The book Gallop verses I spy are both wonderful books but they both have different purposes and the purpose of the read will be different. Same thing with Dick and Jane and Dooby Dooby Moo we showed both of these books in the last lesson read through the books, take five minutes to look at the books and figure out the purpose of your read. It will make all the difference in the world to read with a purpose."
