"Hi, I'm Ann Kennedy on behalf of Expert Village and I'll be teaching you some steps to teach a child to read. Letters, words and spacing. Let's take a book. We've already learned the importance of pointing out from top to bottom how to read each word, looking at pictures and reading anything else on the front cover and looking and glancing on the back cover to see if there's anything of interest to the child to make sure to point it out. Now the fun part begins. We open the book and we look at the first page and we say something as simple, every book is going to be different so please be aware of this step. In this particular book, our first page is hmmm, this looks just like the cover. Let's turn the page and see what the story is about. Simple concept. Let's open the book and turn the page. This starts out at the top with a picture. Regardless of what was on the top, let's point out that over in this corner there's a picture and it says up pup, pup is up and there's the picture. Top to bottom and let's turn the page to see what happens next. Always always say let's turn the page. First thing again. Green Eggs and Ham. Let's open the book, look at the first page, again, is that the same as the cover? No, it's a little bit different. I wonder why. But it says Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss. But you know what I see? He looks just like him. So let's turn the page and find out what the book is about. I am Sam. If you notice, your text is inside the picture. Sometimes this can confuse a child and it's very very important to keep this process as slow as you can by turning the page and saying what a beautiful picture but let's first see what it says. I am Sam. In our next lesson we're going to look a little bit more at letters, words and spacing."
