"Hi, I'm Ann Kennedy on behalf of Expert Village and I'll be teaching you some steps to teach a child to read. This is book covers, part three. The next step, we've chosen as our book this particular book. How do we read a book cover to a child? Never ever ever do not read a book cover to your child. Always make sure you read the book cover first. You start with your finger and you do the title. You tell your child we're going to start at the top. Read with Dick and Jane, that's the title of the book. Now let's look at the picture of the book. What do we see? A little girl and it looks like a dolly and a teddy bear and the name of the book is Jump and Run. I wonder what the book might be about? Let's turn the page and find out. Simple concept. Important concept. You're showing them how to read from top to bottom, you're making a connection of the picture along with the title. In this case, you do the same thing. Green Eggs and Ham is the title of the book. It looks like a funny creature. That must be green eggs and ham, oh, the picture has something to do with the title and the author's name is by Dr. Seuss. Take your time. Every cover is a little bit different but the most important thing is you're showing how to read, you're giving the name of the title, the picture and the author or illustrator."
