"Okay, besides huizhi grid, we have this grid that kind of with equally divided four squares and then the diagonal division lines, it will be very helpful to write strokes like left stand, right stand and even the bends and stuff like that. And this is called mizhi, because in Chinese "mi," rice. Rice like that. So you can see the resemblance of this shape or the division lines of this character, "mi" and that's rice. So we call it mizhi, for lack of a good English word, we call it mizhi grid. Okay. And, we have a symbol for "gia" here, let's put it in there. So, what these lines, vertical, horizontal and the division kind of let you know where to put your strokes like "tien," definitely, I will have "tien" on this center division line that cuts the whole square into left and right and then about here, I will write another "tien" and then the hook will probably start there."
