"While traveling in Germany, you might want to take advantage of the public transportation system which is a little bit different from the one in the United States. All of the major cities are connected by trains and you can reach them I literally hours. For example if you would want to go from Munich to Berlin, which is 100km, you can reach those cities in 5 hours by train. Its very comfortable, it’s a fast train and its called I.C.E which means Inter City Express. You travel really very comfortable. You can make reservations in advance. You see some of the countryside. Its really convenient and fast. So if you would like to catch a train , lets say from Munich to Berlin and you want to have the fast train, you would like to know when the next train would leave, you would say in German, “Wann faehrt die I.C.E. von Muenchen nach Berlin?” When does the ICE from Munich to Berlin leave? Once again in German, “Wann faehrt die I.C.E. von Muenchen nach Berlin?” If you would like to know when the train would arrive in Berlin, you would say “Wann kommt dieser Zug in Berlin an?” In English, when does this train arrive in Berlin? Once again in German, “Wann kommt dieser Zug in Berlin an?” If you would like to know if the train runs also on the weekends you would ask, “Faehrt dieser Zug auch am Wochenende?” Does this train run on the weekends as well? Once again in German, “Faehrt dieser Zug auch am Wochenende?” If you would like to say I want to travel at a special time of day, lets say the evening, morning or during the day, you would say, “Ich moechte morgens” or “mittags” or “abends fahren.” In English, I would like to go in the morning, afternoon, evening.
