"CHRISTOPHER HOWELL: Hi, my name is Christopher Howell with Expert Village and today, we're going to talk about military cadences. Now, parade rest, when you snap the arms back they're high and tight on your back, nice and tight and you got your elbows bent and everything. And when they say, "at ease" you can drop your arms down or you can kinda lollygag, you can move your left foot around and everything but you want to keep your right foot still. So, you sit there and do this, never do this, never do whatever you want to do but pretty much--it's just kinda relaxing, talking to your buddy or whatever. And then when they want to call your attention, even though you're at parade rest or whatever or relaxed, how ever they want to do it, they'll say, "attention." As soon as they say that, you don't come stiff yet, you come right back up and they'll say "attention." Pop back into attention. "Parade rest", parade rest. "At ease", kinda relax, drop your hands down and drop your shoulders, kinda relax."
