"On behalf of Expert Village, I'm Caroline, and I'm here to tell you about Witchcraft. There's a symbol we use in Wicca. It's called a pentacle, or a pentagram. Now the difference between the pentacle and the pentagram is that the pentacle is in a circle, and the pentagram is just drawn and it does derive from Greek, which penta meaning five, and gram meaning written. So as you would draw it, you would have your pentagram. Now we split up the pentagram into the five points. Some people look at it as the five moons of Christ, some people look at it as the five senses, other people look at it as spirit, air, earth, fire and water. With these, we've got different representations for it. So spirit would be the divine, water would be emotion and intuition, we would have intelligence in the arts represent air, earth would be a physical endurance or a stability, and fire would be for courage or daring. I did kind of label just so that it would be easier for people to see how it sits and where the points are for the elements. The pentacle is also used as a protection symbol. So it would be worn or drawn over a visualization of a house, a visualization of a person, a visualization of an animal, in order for it to be protected. Also with a pentacle, the saying with the five moons of Christ, that came from the Knights of the Round Table where Sir Gawain actually had this on his shield when he went into battle. "
