Chinese Zodiac signs are based on the Chinese calender, which comes from astronomy and ancient Chinese philosophy. In the Chinese zodiac there are no corresponding constellations like in the occidental zodiac, but instead, the signs operate on a cycle of months or “moons” and hours of the day. Chinese zodiac signs work on a 60 year cycle based on the five elements( wood, fire, earth, metal and water) , their yin and yang form and the ten heavenly stems. Each sign in the Chinese zodiac corresponds to certain character traits and personality types.
