How to Set Up Mirrors to See your Trailer

"Hi, I am Albert Headsmith with Expert Village. We are going to talk a little bit about basic trailer. One of the first things that you do once you get your trailer set up and actually hooked up the car is you want to go ahead and adjust your mirrors so that you can see the backside of the trailer. You want to go ahead and adjust both sides, the easiest way to do that is to sit upright in your chair and to adjust the mirror right until you can see the edge of the back tire. The mirrors are really important since you can't really turn around and see behind you, since your load is actually right their behind your rear view window. It is important to be able to use these and what you are seeing through them. Your rear view mirror is kind of eliminated while you are actually towing a trailer. Most of the time the load is so tall that you can't see what is behind you. So your rear view side mirrors are the ones that you are essentially using. Especially while backing up. As long as you look in your mirrors and you go ahead and adjust them appropriately before you take off down the road, most of the time you will not have any problems seeing or observing the traffic that is around you."
