"Hi my name is Nat McCullough on behalf of Expert Village. In the following clips we're going to talk about the correct procedure for replacing your upper and lower ball joints on a two wheel drive, full size vehicle. In this clip we're going to talk about the proper way to remount our vehicle's tire. I'm going to roll my tire up here into position, grab a seat right in front of it so I'm not over extending myself, and slip it up on the studs of the hub. Once you have it in place you can hold it there with your foot if you'd like and start your lug nuts. When it comes to starting your lug nuts there's no particular sequence that you need to follow, juts go ahead and screw them right on. Right there. Now what we're going to do is use our four way that's this guy right here, and we're going to snug it down so we can let the vehicle down prior to the torquing procedure. there is a method to snuggling down your lug nuts, it's called the star method. I always start right here on the bottom, good and snug, from there we're going to go up to here. If you look very closely in this area you'll see how the lug nut, as I tighten it down is pulling the tire true. That is part of the idea behind the star method. What we're doing is by tightening it down in various locations in a pattern that's going to ensure that the wheel seats on the hub surface flat and true. Once I get them all snug down I'll go over with you why they call it the star method. The reason why they call it the star method is that if you look at the five lug nuts; the way they are, and pick on the tightening sequences is going to draw a five pointed star. We're going to go from here, to here, to here, to here, to here. That's the star method, that's the proper way to mount your vehicles tire, seat it down true, and snug the lug nuts."
