"BILL ALBIN: Hello, I'm Bill Albin. And on behalf of Expert Village, I'm going to teach you what you need to know to be a local news reporter. In this clip, we're going to talk a little bit about live shots. A live shot is much exactly like what it sounds. It's a live shot on location. So what you do is you go to the scene of some activity that is going on. Something exciting that's going on in the neighborhood, a crime or a big deal or even a local football game. And what you do is you report from that as opposed to simply doing something from the studio. When you're in the studio, it's not as interesting sometimes, as when you're actually there where the action is taking place. So you would go to the action. You would take what's called a live truck with you, which has a transmitter, which allows a signal to go from the scene of the actual, exciting event back to the studio, and then out to the televisions at home. Now, a reporter will do his whole story from that scene speaking onsite, during the action, right there where the activity is taking place."
