"Hi, there. This is Eddie Matthews on behalf of Expert Village. A few tips for announcers trying to get a career in radio. In this segment, this is the most serious one you will ever hear us talking about on Expert Village. It's the other duties that you have to do while you're in this business. If you want to get into this business, remember, you've got other things to do. Judging pie contests, freezing your parts off at a snowmobile rally, broadcasting from fairs, bar events. It's all part of the territory. Remember that. It may sound dorky, it may sound, "Oh why do I have to do this?" But it gets you out in the community and that's extremely important. You could do the first-rate morning show, but you got to get out, get your face seen. It's the same with rock singers. The bands that have the faceless singers, the faceless bands, they're not going to last that long. You've got to have somebody that stands out, like a Mick Jagger, that stands out of the crowd. That doesn't mind going into the crowd as well and getting a little bit dirty and mixing it up with everybody as well. It's a fun event. It may get on you after awhile. There may be nights that you just don't want to go out because you're out till midnight and then you've got to be up at four in the morning, or as we like to call it, "half past stupid," but it's something that you have to do. You may not want to do it five or six nights a week, but it's being part of the community and that's crucial for any successful radio station. It's all a part of the territory."
