"I'm Jamal Spencer for Expert Village. Here at ABC 3 here in Lansing and we're going to talk about how to be a successful sports broadcaster. It's very key to your newscast and to your station and to your TV viewing audience, so that they can relate to you. They kind of want to see who is in your community. That's why it's important to have sponsors for your show or your segments. For instance, if you want to have a Team of the Week, you want to say, "This week's team of the week is brought to you by your local Pizza Hut." "This week's Team of the Week is brought to you by the hardware store on the corner." You want it to be a family friendly place and somewhere that the community can go to. In my neighborhood, we have lots of Cottage Inn Pizzas. We have an automotive dealer who is very involved in the community. We have an outdoor store that sells exclusively to this community. You want to incorporate them into the project. This outdoor report is brought to you by Total Firearms and their new weapons. This conversation is brought to you, this is the Cottage Inn Pizza conversation. You want to incorporate your sponsors into the show because then, that way the fans say, "The Cottage Inn is good enough for ABC, it's good enough for my family to eat there. If ABC promotes it, it must be family friendly place." And it also helps the station get a little bit of money. So everyone comes out a winner. the station gets paid, you promote the product, the fans love the product, fans love that you're involving the community in your broadcast and everyone is happy. So make sure if you can, you get some sponsors of your show, and increase the involvement in your community."
