"Hi! My name is Leslie Moselle and we're here at Mickey Quinn's in Seminole, Florida and on behalf of Expert Village, this is how to be a successful server. Unfortunately, my customer's credit card has been declined. This is kind of an iffy situation with servers. It's kind of an embarrassing moment for your customer, so you want to make sure you go to your table as quietly and discreetly as possible and let your customer know about the situation. Don't make a big deal about it. Don't assume that they don't have another form of payment to pay for their check. Always make them feel comfortable and like not it's not a big deal. If you're comfortable, they're comfortable and it'll be an easy situation to handle. I'm going to go ahead and show you how it's done now. Sir, I went ahead and swiped your card and unfortunately, it's been declined. Is there another form of payment that you can use today to pay for your meal? Yes, I'm sorry about that. Oh, that's no problem. I'll go ahead and give you this one back and I'll take this one. I'm going to go ahead and try that right now and I'll try to get this back to you as quickly as possible. Thank you. You're welcome."
