Series Summary

Night shift work can be a very difficult adjustment. Your body wants to sleep at night and be active during the day, and when your turn the tables, you may find yourself tired all the time, not sure when to eat your meals, and just generally disoriented. While none of this sounds ideal, some professions, such as that of night nurse, require you to make these adjustments. Perhaps someday you can work normal hours, but in the meantime, you can get valuable experience on the night shift.

In this free series of career adjustment videos, our expert will gives you tips for adjusting to the night shift in general and specific advice if you are a night nurse. Learn how to prepare your bedroom for sleeping during the day. Our expert suggests was to get to sleep when everybody else is just waking up. I graduated from Loyola University in Chicago and started as a pediatric hematology oncology nurse and that has been my passion since then. I love working with kids. I love working with kids with cancer, sickle cell, and different diseases of a blood and it's what I do. In this segment, we're going to talk about and learn how to pack your lunch bag for working overnight, how to pack your bags that you're going to take everything that you need in, what to pack in your work bag, different snacks and foods for the night shift while you're working, some healthy alternatives, and also some things to help you relax so you can sleep during the day. We'll also talk about ways to get your circadian rhythm to switch over as much as it can to being able to work at night and staying awake and staying alert. "
