Video Transcript

"Hello! My name is Scott. I am the name tag guy from hellomynameisscott.com, on behalf of Expert Village. We are here to learn about public speaking. In today’s episode, we are going to focus on how to engage your audience. Without engagement, the audience will not remember anything. I want to share four ways that you can connect with any one while you are on stage.

#1 Movement. Get people in the audience to raise their hands, clap, turn around, sit up, stand or anything. Get the blood flowing. More blood equals more oxygen equals more memory.

#2 Eight minutes. Think about it like a sitcom, every eight minutes you better get them moving, you better get them engaged.

#3 Echoes. Get the people in the audience to repeat something after you or have them finish a sentence for example: ladies and gentleman what is the #1 cause of divorce in this country? Hopefully some one will say, marriage. That is engagement. The final point about engagement is, get off the stage. Get away from that stinking podium or lectern, or whatever you want to call it. Get out there. Get in people’s faces and engage them because they will remember. That is what effective engagement is all about. "
