"Hello, my name is Dr. Susan Jewell and on behalf of expert village, I am going to talk to you about how to recognize and how to reduce the risk of getting food poisoning. Now, in this clip I'm going to talk about when you should seek professional help. Now, most cases of food poisoning, the a signs and symptoms that a person presents, would resolve over time. Usually, within 24 hours and when the patient is complaining of possible food poisoning, what you do is always maintain rehydratation, make sure they take lots of fluids. If they are vomiting make sure that they have a bucket by the side. So, like I said most of these cases resolve on its own. Now, the time that you seek professional help, straight to the E.R, is when the patient has other severe associated conditions. Like, for example, they're going to have very severe stomach cramps and then they are going to have a fever. And the low grade fever becomes a high grade fever and then they are going to have seating and vomiting, vomiting then they are going to have diarrhea. Now, these are very severe symptoms that mean that the food poisoning have entered into the blood stream and then they're having all these symptoms of septicemia or bacteremia. And definitely, you're going to the E.R so you can get proper medication and proper professional help. So, that is the time that you actually go to the ER and to seek any, any kind of professional help is when you get very severe cases of, symptoms of food poisoning."
