Now, the next thing that you could do - another method is to drink ice water. Have handy a lot of ice around in the fridge so that every time that you feel like you're having a hot flash, fill it up with water and really just give yourself a nice cold cup of ice water and that actually will help reduce the hot flash at that moment that you're having it. Another way, of course, is to freeze water. So, have a lot of bottled water, put it in the freezer, keep it in there so that you can always have that handy and available when you're feeling that a hot flash is coming on. Some other ways is, of course, your environment that you're actually living in. So, ways that you can counter hot flashes is to lower the thermostat a couple of degrees; especially at night time when your body is - when the hot flashes usually occur, during the night time when you're asleep. Also, set the air conditioning at a nice, lower, comfortable cold setting. Another method I'm going to mention - I mentioned earlier - is paced breathing. Paced breathing, as I said, is a way to not only reduce the duration of hot flashes, but also the occurrence. It also has other benefits like, it would help anxiety and help you to de-stress during a very stressful day or just a hard time with you at that time, dealing with the menopause, or the other symptoms of the menopause. So, paced breathing, I mentioned earlier, is just breathing in, using your diaphragmatic muscles. Very deeply inhale in for five seconds, hold the breath, then exhale out for five seconds. Always remember to use the control is your diaphragm muscles. So, these are some multiple ways to reduce hot flashes.
