"When you're working and living with ADHD, again whether you're working with the benefit of medication or without. One of those harmful parts of having ADHD is, we tend to get down on ourselves. We're naturally sort of impulsive, impatient people. And it's hurtful to be impatient with yourself. You have to learn to live with this disorder and learn to the live life that you want to live as best as possible. It's important to be patient in learning to deal with your ADHD and learning to be kind with yourself. It's negative self talk is one of the most damaging things a person can do. There's enough in this world to put a person down and to make a person feel inadequate without your own internal dialog adding to that. So it's important to remember that this is a disorder that doesn't have a cure. It has a number of treatment styles. Some that involve medication and the choice you're making which is to go without medication. It takes time for any sort of treatment to work. It takes practice. And for a lot of us with adult ADHD, we haven't had our whole lives to learn how to live with this disorder. We didn't know we had this disorder until recently. So it's important to be nice to yourself. Be patient with yourself. And remember that you're unique and special person no matter what anyone or anything around you tells you. "
