"Something that's important in managing ADHD without the assistance of medication and indeed with the assistance of medication is to make sure you eat properly and make time to do so. People with ADHD often feel that they're driven by a motor and that they're constantly on the go and when we're up and running at high energy, it can make us feel like we don't want to eat. It can take away our appetite or we can be so wrapped up in a project or a task and so hyper-focused, that we forget to eat. And when we start to come down, our bodies realize that they don't have enough fuel and we can become irritable, distracted; it can exacerbate the negative symptoms of ADHD just because blood sugar is low and your body is hungry. Nobody likes to be hungry whether you have ADHD or not. It's an uncomfortable feeling and that's with good reason, our bodies need fuel. So a big suggestion I have is to make time to eat. Make time to eat properly. If you only have little bits of time during the day to eat, prepare yourself a cup of little bits of healthy food. Keep giving your body and also your brain the fuel it needs to function properly. It's important."
