"If you call for results and hear that you're positive all hope isn't lost. It means that in this particular blood sample you have tested positive for the HIV virus. In that case, it's important to contact your personal doctor or public health facility as soon as possible to report this result and have it confirmed by their own testing methodology and to begin treatment as soon as possible. People with HIV live long, normal, healthy, productive lives, so do people with AIDS in this day and age. There are a number of antiviral treatments that have improved the quality of life and life span for people who test positive for HIV and AIDS. Also, you're going to need to, you're going to need to notify all your current sexual partners and recent past sexual partners as far back as you think you need to go from where you think you were infected, and notify them that they may have possibly been exposed to the disease and they need to be tested too. Not only is that the right thing to do so these people can have the same benefit you're going to have with early detection and early treatment, in some states and localities it can be a felony to not report to past or present partners that you are HIV positive.
