" Hi! I’m Tracey Cullers on behalf of expertvillage.com. In this segment, I’ll show you how to stop a nosebleed. First, put gloves on so that you do not get any body fluids on your hands. Next, reassure the person who is injured and try to keep them calm so that their blood pressure does not go up and start spurting blood. Next, I would find the thickest dressing that you have in your first-aid kit. If you cannot find a dressing like this then I would use a clean cloth or piece of clothing. Encourage the person to sit up and forward and apply direct lateral pressure for about five minutes. At this point, you can also apply ice to the bridge of the nose. This should stop the bleeding."
