"Okay, those are just some examples of self-destructive beliefs that you might have. Your self-destructive beliefs might be that you're a bad mother, or that you're a bad daughter, or whatever it is. The first thing that we have to do if we're going to attack these self-destructive beliefs--which is what we're going to do--because the self-destructive beliefs have to go in order for us to improve our self-esteem. So the first thing that we have to do, and you have to tell yourself, really whether you believe it or not, and probably in the beginning you won't, you have to realize and tell yourself that these things are unrealistic. You think you're a bad employee. Are you really? Well, probably not. It is unrealistic. Are you really a bad mother because you didn't get your child to school on time? No. That's unrealistic, okay. You have to put all of these self-destructive beliefs in perspective, and realize that ninety-nine percent of them are unrealistic. And you have to start telling yourself that. And I'm going to give you some tips in just a minute for how exactly to do that."
