"Okay, the first thing that we have to do is we have to identify self-destructive beliefs. And self-destructive beliefs are the negative things that you tell yourself, or that other people tell you: you're dumb, you're fat, you're never going to amount to anything, or you're a bad mother, you're a bad father. Whatever it is, you need to identify all of those things that you feel about yourself that you think yourself, and possibly that other people say and feel about you. All the negative things. We've got to identify those first before we can do any attacking of them, which we're going to do a little bit later on. There are some major ones that are very common among a lot of people. And you may not have ever thought of them as being self-destructive, but they are, and I bet a lot of you can relate to this one: the drive to be perfect. Any perfectionists out there? Well, that is a self-destructive belief, that you can be perfect. You cannot be perfect. It is okay to strive for perfection, but when you do not meet perfection because it really basically can't be done, you cannot then call yourself a failure because you weren't perfect. If you're not the perfect mother, if you're not the perfect wife, if you're not the perfect husband, if you're not the perfect employee, that is okay. So, take a look at how you stand on your desire to be perfect. And now, let's look at some more."
