"WHITNEY TESLER: Hi my name is Whitney Tesler on behalf of Expert Village, talking to you about how to become vegan, and we're going over a list of essential ingredients. Coconut milk is good to have on hand for sauces. It adds a unique flavor. It's a little bit fattening but again, it's not saturated fat so it's okay. Oils. I like extra virgin olive oil. It has a unique flavor as well. I use that in pastas and for like sauteing vegetables. Safflower oil and canola oil are also good options. Chips, potato chips, tortilla chips. Chips are chips. They're pretty much all vegan. You're going to have to read the ingredients though because sometimes they like to slip in a little milk products especially the sour cream and onion, but even unsuspecting items like lime tortilla chips I noticed to have milk product in them so you have to be careful but there are a plenty out there and a lot of natural food brands make their own so those are really tasty as well and can be nutritious also. Nutritional yeast as I went over before, it's definitely a super food. It's got all your essential B vitamins, really good. It's got a cheesy flavor. You can use it in macaroni and cheese, soups, sauces, sprinkle it on popcorn. That's one of my favorites and you basically use it as cheese. Nutritional yeast can be found in the bulk food section of most natural food markets or the natural section of your regular supermarket in a powdered form or flake form; both are the same. It just depends on which one you prefer. I like to get the flake form. Beans are always good to have in hand, dried or canned. I like to make bean salad and mix it with a little bit of pasta. It's really good for energy and it's good snack to have in hand. You could also use it for tacos and burritos which is one of my other favorite foods."
