on 9/25/2009 I'm a massage therapy student trying to round-out my learning. In this video, I saw the typical responses many people usually give, "I'm fine", and how the therapist drew out more by commenting about her slightly rounded shoulders, "Oh yeah, I have scoliosis..." It can be like pulling teeth to get people to tell you what's going on so you can know how better to help them!

"Hi. Hello. This is Sarah. Hi. So, Sarah will be receiving a shiatsu massage. When I'm working with somebody, I want to find out what's going on with them in a very casual way. So, what is happening for your body? How's your energy? My energy...well, I'm trying to work on my energy. I've been exercising or trying to exercise. That?s good, that's good. But, I'm not that great on the treadmill. That's what I do, I do cardio. But how is your overall health? Overall health. I believe I'm moderate. I don't think I'm exceptionally healthy. I feel I could always be healthier. I try to live a healthy lifestyle but I feel like it's a little bit difficult. There's no illness right now or you have no... I have allergies. Oh, you do have allergies, okay. But besides that... Besides that any kind of muscular problems or pains? Not that I know of. Nowhere, that's great. That's wonderful. So, overall you're pretty healthy. As the therapist I take a quick diagnosis, and I notice that you are a little bit hunched over here. Oh yeah, I have scoliosis. Oh you have scoliosis? Okay. Have you done anything to correct that? No, I haven't. Just trying to work on my posture. That's very good. So it's just something to keep in mind. Great. So we'll come back and start the session."
