"SARAH HAUER: Hi, I'm Sarah Hauer. SIG HAUER: And I'm Sig Hauer, and we're professional practitioners of traditional Chinese medicine. SARAH HAUER: We're here on behalf of Expert Village. SIG HAUER: And welcome to our video. SARAH HAUER: All of our needles come prepackaged and sterile before usage. We don't open the package until we get ready to perform your treatment. We use the type of needle that come with a guide tube which is this plastic tube that surrounds it which makes for a very painless insertion. And needle may be too strong a word for what an acupuncture needle actually is because they're so thin and they're very flexible that they're very painless. As Sig was saying, when you get your first acupuncture treatment, you may feel a little pinch as the needle is inserted. And we may stimulate the needle a little bit to get the qi, that's what we call a "qi sensation" which is contacting your energy, the qi in your meridians. And you may feel a little warmth or a penetrating spreading effect, but it should not be painful. If it is, tell your acupuncturist to adjust the needle for you to make it more comfortable."
