"Hi! Dr. Sean Flaherty from Summer Chiropractic in Puyallup, Washington. Chiropractic care really is for everyone, for all ages, from the newborn to the most elderly. Generally for the newborn and for the elderly the adjustments are very light force. When you get older the bones may become brittle. The ligaments and tendons are less elastic so you can’t go in there and be very physical with them a lot of the times and so light force adjustments are used to help them keep proper biomechanics to help them keep optimal wellness through keeping the vertebrae in place and letting the brain send its messages that needs to send down through the spinal cord that the spinal column houses and out of the nerves. They go to the specific areas of the body and hopefully keep their medications down to a minimum as opposed to you know the general… I think after you are 60 years old, you will see most people are on up to 12-15 medications and if we can prevent that through opening the mind-body connection, well that’s what we will do through light force chiropractic adjustments for the elderly."
