on 8/2/2008 I did a literature review and was unable to find any evidence to support your claim that a maintenance program is effective. I would agree that it is effective in padding your pocketbook.

"Hi! I am Dr. Sean Flaherty from Summer Chiropractic in Puyallup, Washington and I would like to talk to you today a little bit about some of the myths you might hear about chiropractic. One of the most common myths is “Gee you have to keep going forever” or “you get addicted to that.” Well, what happens is once somebody starts to feel good, they want to always feel good, and so they continue to go back on a maintenance type of program to stay at optimal wellness. 90% or more of our Olympic athletes are under chiropractic care and it is not because they are in pain or they are hurt, or they are sick or anything like that it is because they compete in events where they win or lose by tenths of a second, and so they want to make sure that their bodies are functioning absolutely 100% and so just like Arnold Schwarzenegger… did not go out, and he won Mr. Olympia then he never lifted another weight again in his life. He continued to maintain his body and improve his body over and over and went on to win I think eight or something like that. You may mow your lawn once, and then be done for the summer, you would not just change the oil in your car once, you will not just floss your teeth once, I hope not, you do that over and over, you maintain that, and that keeps you well, that keeps your body functioning 100%."
