"You can do a lot to save the wear and tear in your glasses if you learn to put on your glasses and take off your glasses properly. I'm going to discuss it first how to put on your glasses properly and how not to put them on. Typical one-handed movements, people who do this and stretch the glasses so that they fit on your face - that's what not to do when you put the glasses on. How you should be putting the glasses on is two hands because when you put them on with one hand, you're stretching one side. That means, generally speaking on a metal frame in particular, you're going to wind up to stretch the screw and spin it out of its coil and basically unthread the screw. You want to avoid that by putting it on with two hands. The other thing is, in putting them on you want to make sure that everything sits in the back. That's not more for, you know, that you're going to mess the glasses up or break them or anything, but they're just going to fit a lot better if you take the time and go ahead and push them down. On plastic frames, if you did the same thing, less stress on the hinges because there's nothing holding the frames in, but plastic is malleable, so what you're going to wind up doing is stretching that plastic. Again, use two hands, not the one-handed method and you're going to be able to save a lot of wear and tear on your glasses."
