"One thing to also to consider when you're out traveling, especially out in the woods, you might get bit even if you do have insect protection. You also may encounter a scorpion, a wasp, or a bee sting, a hornet sting, or a snake bite, worst case scenario. And you want to make sure that you're prepared to deal with that sort of thing, if that should be the case especially if you have an allergy to insect bites. The old fashioned bite kit, the old fashioned snake bite kit that you see here is the one that we all grew up with. The medical profession recommends against this particular type of snake bite treatment simply because it does come with a razor knife, and you do have to cut yourself, and you run the risk of infection if you cut yourself plus this suction cup here does not really pull all of the venom, or enough of the venom out, to prevent you from getting seriously ill. The kit that we recommend is the Sawyer extractor. This is the kit that?s carried by the U.S. military. It does remove up to thirty to forty percent of the venom directly from the bite itself. You do not have to cut yourself, and it comes with several different cups which will allow you to reverse the venom, enough of it to get you to the hospital. You're still going to get sick, but you should be able to prevent loss of life if you apply this extractor within minutes after your snake bite."
