"The question comes down to who is a candidate to receive dental implant and really the answer is quite general. In general, basically, anybody can have dental implant, with the condition that they're healthy and that they are medically compromised but that the medical condition is controlled, with their physician. Some patients cannot and then those are really, you know, if you're pregnant, you really don't want to introduce something foreign into your body, at that time, when your body chemistry is changing or if you have some type of, we call it connective tissue disease. That basically could impinge on healing or someone that has HIV, which basically their immune system is low. Basically there are compromises in these treatments because, in general, it's basically whoever needs it and they know what their condition is. They can control their condition, in general, you can have that implant. That's why it's so critical that you just don't go to the dentist and just say "I want a dental implant," and then we just place it in there. You need to have an examination, a consultation. We need to be able to do a health history evaluation and discuss any type of situation, that's necessary to brought up, at that time. The other thing is that, when we need to do an examination to see how your oral health is. Someone comes in and their teeth are all swinging left and right, well the big flag is waved. You can't just put a dental implant in there, the first thing that you have to look at is, why is that patient in that condition and do we need to correct that first , before we even do any dental implant treatment. There are many different situations that needs to be addressed and that's why, before you do any type of dental implant treatment, a consultation is really vital and important."
