We're often asked what to expect, after an IV sedation procedure has been completed and if you notice any major changes, in terms of redness or swelling or itching, certainly go back to your dentist and let them reevaluate the area. One of the most important things, that we discuss, in terms of after IV sedation, is the fact that you receive amnesia. Amnesia meaning the ability to not remember things. This is actually a desirable thing and the main purpose of the IV sedation, is to basically create you a relaxed state and that you don't remember anything. It's because of not remembering anything that we typically encourage you to not, obviously after the procedure, not to operate any heavy machinery, do not drive and certainly do not make any legal decisions, within the first twenty-four hours. We find that with IV sedation, although it puts you in a relax state, it can typically last anywhere from four to eight hours, even after the procedure has been accomplished. This is also the reason why it's important that an escort needs to come with you and leave with you, after the procedure. As far as complications, we very rarely see any sort of complications it's, typically, a very relaxed state that you're put in and we don't typically see an complications, other than maybe some local irritation to the area where we started the IV.
