on 8/2/2008 Monica, how do you feel about the use of t.e.n.s. unit on achilles injuries, I know you can buy these home units and wondered if you would reccommend them to stimulate muscles strength? how about the ultra sound home kit?

"Hi! I am Monica and I am going to show you another massage technique for your Achilles tendon area. You want to again make sure that you are doing this nice and gentle and then you can start doing deeper stuff as your tissues warm up to it. What you want to do is now is more of compression type of exercises. So you are kind of pressing in, you can use both of your thumbs, kind of pressing in, all down along here. You can press and hold especially you find a spot that’s more tender, you can kind of press and wiggle around. You want to make sure when you are doing any of these massage techniques that you are not causing too much pain. Little bit of pain, maybe a little bit of intense feeling is good. You can go all the way down to your heel, to where you start feeling it bony to the insertion point of the Achilles tendon. Sometimes more people find that that’s actually more tender than you know when you are up here kind of pressing, rubbing, you can actually just kind of grab and hold, grab and press. You can do just nice squeezing like compression type of motion. You can even do it with your hand here, nice fist. You want to get a larger surface area something that is more general versus thumbs is a little bit more specific here. "
