"Hi! I’m Monica and another thing I am going to talk to you about with carpal tunnel syndrome is posture. Posture is the big thing, because most people have lousy posture. They are hunched over like this. What that does is it actually closes off the shoulder area right here. All these nerves that are running from your neck down to your shoulder, down your arm, and then eventually into your hands and fingers have to come through the shoulder. With carpal tunnel if you have problems with this nerve, your median nerve down here at the wrist, it might actually be from poor posture. If the nerve is pinched up here more then it’s going to be causing less nutrients and oxygen to get to the nerve further down. So you want to make sure you have nice posture. You want to have a nice long spine. You should be able to pretend like you have a little string that goes all the way through your spine. You want to just pull up on that string, nice and tall, shoulders back, and head back. Try to check yourself throughout the day. Try to think about your posture anytime you walk by certain thing, you look in the mirror, especially if you have some kind of office desk where you are sitting all day. Again, try to do posture while you are sitting at your keyboard or whatever you are doing. "
