"Now I'm going to show you the tools you need for your hot stone massage session. Aside from having a massage table and the linens that are draped on the table, you'll need a roasting pan for your stones. One that has a temperature gaging dial. You need to have your temperature between a hundred and twenty and a hundred and fifty degrees. Here are the stones that we use. They're basically basalt stones. Some other people use river rocks. They come in all different colors and sizes. They're dark, dark purple, grayish, or brown. And the bigger stones are used for placing on the body, the medium sized stones are used for working on the body, these smaller stones are used for facial massage, and what I like about these stones is that they can conform to your fingers and they can be used as tools as if you were using your thumbs. But you can use the edge of the stone. And these are the smaller stones for the toes. I like to use a slotted, plastic spoon to get the stones out of the roaster. And also you need a towel for yourself, a towel for the roaster, a towel for your client. And last, you'll need some oil, preferably natural oil. Oil like grape seed. And don't use cream because it leaves a film on the stones. If you're not sure about the temperature and you're practicing, have a bowl of ice water so you can dip your stones in to cool them off."
