"Now we're going to be doing knuckle petrissage. This is great for the lower back, getting into the quadratis lumborum muscle which is from the lower rib to the iliac crest. Keeping my wrist straight and a soft fist, I use my knuckles to get into the tissue. You can do this along the back, just make sure your wrist is aligned with your arm, using proper body mechanics. Also, I can knuckle the erector spinae up against the spine. It's a great way to save your fingers as well. You go into the glutes. Doing the knuckle petrissage in these major muscle groups is very relaxing and soothing, it can release a lot of tension. That is knuckle petrissage."
