"Hi! I'm Jenny Cooper here for Expert Village. I'm a dietetic intern at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, and I'm here to talk to you today about the freshman 15. Many students respond to stress by overeating and eating high fat and high sugary foods. This does nothing but cause more stress and guilt for over eating. Try taking a quick walk or run during a study break. Even try doing yoga in your dorm room. Ask a friend to play a quick game of tennis or racquetball after class. Try walking or riding your bikes to class instead of driving to get some fresh air to get some fresh air, which will help calm your nerves. When you fell the urge to eat, maybe trying counting to 20. You'll be surprised this little distraction can make that food seem not so appealing. Even trying drinking a glass of water which can curve your appetite. Trying keeping some safe snacks in your dorm room when you do get the urge to eat such as cereal, raisins, dried apples, or yogurt."
