"Hearing aids working essentially like a public address system. There are four main parts to a hearing aid. This hearing aid, is what we refer to as an in the ear hearing aid. I'll show you the four parts of the hearing aid. The first part is the microphone. That's right under this plastic cover. If I open this up, there's a tiny little microphone right in there. The microphone is designed to pick up the sound in the environment. The next part that I'll talk about it is the amplifier. The amplifier takes up sound that is picked up by the microphone and makes it louder. That's encased inside the hearing aid. The third part is the speaker or the system that delivers the amplified sound into the ear. That's right there. So this part would be in the ear canal and that speaker would deliver the sound into the ear. The fourth part is the power supply, which is provided by a battery. You can see that here, this is the battery that provides power to the hearing aid. "
