"Hello, my name is Melissa and on behalf of Expert Village we are going to be talking today about how to prevent a cavity and how to save your smile. In this clip lets talk about how to prevent a cavity, by of course, brushing your teeth which is what you need to do...what everybody needs to do. How often and how long, that is the key. Now it all depends on what you're eating and when you're eating it. But you know, I'm sure your parents have told you to brush your teeth three to four times a day, after each meal, before you go to bed. But, again, it all depends upon what you are eating. Just as long as you're brushing your teeth, you need some good old fashioned toothpaste, a good toothbrush. And remember, with your toothbrush, it's a good idea to at least change them every three months. But what you can also do is look at the edges of your toothbrush as well. And if they are really worn out that's a sure sign that you need to change your toothbrush. You might also be into using the electric toothbrush of course. Again, these wear out as well. If you see discoloration on the head there, on the bristles. Good idea, take it away, throw it away and get a new top for your electric toothbrush. The key to brushing your teeth though is very important. No matter what you are using. The toothbrush or the type of toothpaste you are using. Very important when brushing your teeth, it is crucial absolutely, crucial to brush all of your teeth surfaces, or your tooth surfaces. And that takes at least two to three minutes. Now, most people on average only brush their teeth for 45 seconds. They give a quick swab up and down, side to side, back and forth. And that's it, only 45 seconds. But if you do it right it should take you to between two to three minutes."
