Video Transcript

"In general, when you do the whitening, you want to make sure the product is a good product, not a no-name product, because there's so many over-the-counter, and there's so many that's from the dentist that they can give you, and most of them really don't work. I think it's a waste of money. Some of them do work, but the concentration is so high it really will irritate your teeth or your gum. There's a fine line in whitening. You want to protect your teeth; you want to whiten your teeth. You don't want to whiten your teeth but you damage it so much that you end up with root canals. So you've got to be very careful. You've got to question your dentist when you ask for the whitening, what product they use and how they do it. Be proactive in this process because it's not just one size fits all. Everybody's a little bit different. Especially your oral hygiene, if you have gum disease or if you have root-exposure, then whitening might not be a good process for you, it's going to be more discomfort for you than anything else, and you might not be able to do it. Also, if you're pregnant, or if you're on a lot of medication, then you've got to be careful. Is whitening a way to do it? When you whiten your teeth, the teeth's strength is lost a little bit. Will you be able to get that back? All of that has to be taken into consideration, and that's why you should consult with your dentist and make a decision together, so the end product will be a happy product, not a damaged product."
