"This is called a precipitation test I actually takes about 20 minutes for this to develop. Basically all this is two different ingredients ethylene glycol and potassiun hydroxide, and these two substances are used at 10 drops each into the tap water, now this water here, was from the local water here in Burbank, as you can see the stuff that is floating in there toward to bottom is actually the things that are in the water that are not water this actually just lets you see them it breaks down the clarifying agents. This was water that was taken from Oxnard, out in Ventura County, you can see how much more is in that, this is about 35 grains of hardness, this one is from here and is about 18 grains of hardness, you can see there is quite a bit of a difference, just to give you an idea. This is about 15 cc's of water its not a lot of water you can imagine what would be in a glass say for example or a gallon even."
